    No, these two things are different from each other, The study permit will authorize you to pursue your studies while in Canada, On the other hand, a Temporary Resident Visa or TRV will allow you to enter into Canada, To get TRV, you should submit your passport along with study permit application to a Canadian Visa Office board, you can finf some good university in halifax-Dalhousie University, Mount Saint Vincent University, NSCAD University, University of King's College

    As you are studying in halifax, If you intend to renew your study permit, you are recommended to apply before the expiry of the permit, The reason is that you must immediately leave Canada on expiry of your study permit, In some instance, you might be able to apply for status restoration, But, if there is a delay in status restoration, you will not be allowed to study until then.
