    Founded in 1802, Saint Mary's University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the small city of Halifax (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Nova Scotia. Officially accredited/recognized by the Department of Labour and Advanced Education, Nova Scotia, Saint Mary's University (SMU) is a medium-sized (enrollment range: 7,000-7,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Saint Mary's University (SMU) offers courses and programs leading to officialy recognized higher education degrees such as undergraduate certificates/diplomas, associate degrees, bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 214 years old HE institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Canadian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.     Yes, there is an exemption for students, who are enrolled in French as a Second Language (FSL) or in English as a Second Language (ESL) course, Even if they have a work permit, these students will not be allowed to work during their course period in Canada, find some good universities-Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University

    To study and to stay in Halifax, nova scotia for more than six months, you will have to first get an admission to a Canadian Designated Learning Institution shortly called as DLI that has Government of Canada recognition, Once you get an approval letter from DLI, you will have to apply for a study permit.
